  19. ObjectFile Announces Version 1.1
  20.  
  21.     The latest release of ObjectFile adds Sets and OnDemandSets. 
  22. These
  23. are ready made collections for representing one-to-many relationships.
  24. They are based on the Standard Template Library sets. 
  25.  
  26.     Developers can use them in three ways:
  27.  
  28. i   As templates to define typesafe sets.
  29. ii  To declare non-typesafe class attributes.
  30. iii    As a pattern for integrating any other third party collection
  31.     into ObjectFile.

  33.     These additions are in line with ObjectFiles commitment to be 
  34. fully
  35. compatible with any existing development environment, while at the same
  36. time allowing rapid application development, as delivered.

  42. What is ObjectFile ?
  43. ====================
  44.  
  45.         ObjectFile is completely new. It is a small, fast and reliable
  46. engine, that is used to provide object persistence to any application 
  47. program, that must store its objects on file.
  48.  
  49.         ObjectFile is unique in that it is designed specifically with 
  50. application developers in mind. It was born after the realization that
  51. any available OODBMS was just too weighed down by database features,
  52. to be efficient in most application programs. ObjectFile was written
  53. during the development of a Computer Aided Design program.
  54.  
  55.         ObjectFile has all the essential features needed for development
  56. of industrial strength applications. These include BLOB's, incremental 
  57. save, and the ability to store more data than physical memory.
  58.  
  59.         ObjectFile is methodologically clean. It is written in C++ for 
  60. use
  61. with C++. It provides type safety and allows the maintainence of object 
  62. invariants. It uses no pre-compiler or special operating system 
  63. features.
  64.  
  65.         ObjectFile is portable. Its file format is also portable across
  66. processors.
  67.  
  68.         ObjectFile is not a full featured Database Management System. It
  69. does not support concurrent access or client/server operation, does not 
  70. have multiple indexes, nor will it handle gigabytes of data. It is 
  71. designed for application developers, and not database developers. This 
  72. allows it to speed up your development and not slow it down.

  74.         ObjectFile is sold on a per developer basis. There are
  75. absolutely no run-time royalties.

  77. The Beta Program
  78. ================

  80.         After undergoing extensive in-house testing ObjectFile is
  81. commencing a Beta testing program. Developers will be supplied with 
  82. ObjectFile free of charge for the Beta period.
  83. They will get full support via E-mail for the Beta period, also free of
  84. charge.
